Fireproof: The Message of the Cross

Have you watched Fireproof? Kirk Cameron played the role of Captain Caleb Holt, a firefighter, who lives by the firefighter's adage: "Never leave your partner." Yet he has another battle to fight - to rescue his marriage with Catherine. Like any other men, Caleb needs the guidance of his idol, John Holt, his dad. Full of wisdom, John Holt challenges him to commit to a 40-day experiment: "The Love Dare." I really love most part of the scenes but what struck me most is that scene where Caleb engages his Dad to a man to man conversation. It's an amazing picture and probably the best part of the movie! I really appreciate the value of having a father and son private conversations. Honestly, I didn't have much of it with my father. That's why I am making most of my time to talk with my 5 year old son. Fathers are heroes to every son and are very influential in shaping their son's future. It would be my most wonderful experience if I were to play

Lessons from My Father: The Wisdom Billy Graham Shared With His Son

This is a transcript of an interview of Franklin Graham by Amy Levin-Epstein of Best Life Magazine. As a father myself, I can help but to look up to this man. He is worthy of emulation. His God given wisdom touches lives not only his son, Franklin Graham, but to ordinary men like myself. Read and be blessed. My father became very close with the Nixons. He was fairly close with John F. Kennedy. After the Watergate era, however, he said, “I’m not going to say anything to a politician again unless it’s of a spiritual nature. I’m not going to talk with them about political issues, about international issues. I’m just going to keep my mouth shut and speak to them about things that affect their hearts.” I’ve watched him my whole life. He is my example. My father doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. If someone hurts him or disappoints him, my father just forgives the person and moves on. I think that’s what love is all about. There’s no book to teach you . My father told me you learn how to

Chile Quake Captured by Clubgoers

A clubgoer was shooting amateur video as a massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake rocked Chile. The moment was also caught on surveillance video at a Santiago prison. One of the biggest earthquakes  recorded in history  hit Chile on Saturday, February 27, 2010, killing more than 300 people, toppling buildings and freeways, and setting off sirens thousands of miles away as governments scrambled to protect coastal residents from the ensuing tsunami. May God comfort the victims of this natural disaster. Source: Youtube Associated Press Photo: www.bbc.co.uk

Are We Missing the Church's Purpose?

A.W. Tozer , popularly known as  "20th-century prophet" in his lifetime and was for 31 years pastor of Southside Alliance Church in Chicago, penned this provocative article relevant to our churches today.   It would be too easy to dismiss this dislike for church as only another symptom of original sin and love of moral darkness, but I believe that explanation is too pat to be wholly true. It doesn't explain enough. Some persons, for instance, find church intolerable because there is no objective toward which pastor and people are moving, aside possibly from the limited one of trying to enlist eight more women and 10 more men to chaperon the annual youth cookout or reaching the building fund quota for the month. And believe me, that can get mighty wearisome after a while, so wearisome indeed that alert, forward-looking persons often forsake the churches in droves and leave the spiritless, the dull and those afflicted with permanent insouciance to carry on, if a phrase so a

While I'm Waiting

While I'm waiting, I will serve You While I'm waiting, I will worship While I'm waiting, I will not faint I'll be running the race Even while I wait - John Waller I first heard this song on the movie Fireproof . This song is simply amazing and its message deeply impacted and refreshed my attitude on waiting. Sometimes we are too carried by our emotions.  We are often react to the pressures from the people around us. We often jump into decisions without heeding to what God has to say. God's Word says: "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass." (Psalm 37:7) "I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry." (Psalm 40:1-3) "Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and lat

Lost and Found

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) This is a very funny yet simple illustration of being lost. As Lisa Leslie (WNBA Player) said it "No matter what your situations are, being in the inner-city or broken homes, the Lord's grace is so amazing He'll cover you.”
