Lee Strobel: The Atheist Turned Christian

Lee Strobel, author of the " The Case for Christ " (pictured on the right), was educated at the University of Missouri (Bachelor of Journalism degree, 1974) and Yale Law School (Master of Studies in Law degree, 1979). He was a professional journalist for 14 years at The Chicago Tribune and other newspapers, winning Illinois' top honors for investigative reporting (which he shared with a team he led) and public service journalism from United Press International. Lessons from My Father: The Wisdom Billy Graham Shared With His Son

This is a transcript of an interview of Franklin Graham by Amy Levin-Epstein of Best Life Magazine. As a father myself, I can help but to look up to this man. He is worthy of emulation. His God given wisdom touches lives not only his son, Franklin Graham, but to ordinary men like myself. Read and be blessed. My father became very close with the Nixons. He was fairly close with John F. Kennedy. After the Watergate era, however, he said, “I’m not going to say anything to a politician again unless it’s of a spiritual nature. I’m not going to talk with them about political issues, about international issues. I’m just going to keep my mouth shut and speak to them about things that affect their hearts.” I’ve watched him my whole life. He is my example. My father doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. If someone hurts him or disappoints him, my father just forgives the person and moves on. I think that’s what love is all about. There’s no book to teach you . My father t...

Don't Waste Your Life: A True Story!

Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. Luke 13:23-24 Read and watch the testimony of James. My conversion from a practising Catholic to a Bible Believing Christian is primarily down to the change that I witnessed in my father's life. One day I heard him listening to an old time American preacher. I remember saying to him: "Why are you listening to this? You're a Catholic and we're good people." He responded by saying to me: "It isn't enough for me now. I need something else. And I am not a good person." Now, I must say that for a person who went to church every day, was on most church committees and had even penned a book about our church (which sold very well), this amazed me. This was to be a major turning point for my father and little did I know, for me too. During this period, I was a singer wit...

Remembering Martin Luther King Jr: "I have a dream" Speech

In 1950's America, the equality of man envisioned by the Declaration of Independence was far from a reality. People of color — blacks, Hispanics, Asians — were discriminated against in many ways, both overt and covert. The 1950's were a turbulent time in America, when racial barriers began to come down due to Supreme Court decisions, like Brown v. Board of Education; and due to an increase in the activism of blacks, fighting for equal rights. Martin Luther King, Jr., a Baptist minister, was a driving force in the push for racial equality in the 1950's and the 1960's. In 1963, King and his staff focused on Birmingham, Alabama. They marched and protested non-violently, raising the ire of local officials who sicced water cannon and police dogs on the marchers, whose ranks included teenagers and children. The bad publicity and break-down of business forced the white leaders of Birmingham to concede to some anti-segregation demands. Thrust into the national spotlight in...

Televangelist Oral Roberts Dead at 91

(CBS/AP) Oral Roberts, a pioneer in televangelism who founded a multimillion-dollar ministry and a university that bears his name, died Tuesday. He was 91. Roberts died of complications from pneumonia in Newport Beach, California, according to his spokesman, A. Larry Ross. The evangelist was hospitalized after a fall on Saturday. He had survived two heart attacks in the 1990s and a broken hip in 2006. Roberts was a pioneer who broadcast his spirit-filled revivals on television, a new frontier for religion when he started in the 1950s. He was also a forerunner of the controversial "prosperity gospel" that has come to dominate televangelism. The evangelist's "Seed-Faith" theology held that those who give to God will get things in return. "If God had not, in His sovereign will, raised up the ministry of Oral Roberts, the entire charismatic movement might not have occurred," said Jack Hayford, president of the International Church of the Foursquare G...

What is Your Cardboard Testimony?

You've got to see this video. It's brilliant and powerful. What an innovative way to testify to the goodness of God! Men and women from all walks of life in this video prove one thing: God is involved in our personal lives! He knows every detail, He knows every battle, and He knows every circumstance of our lives. In His eyes, nothing is hidden. Do you have a carboard testimony? Care to share one? Why don't you type in to the comment box just below this post? The bible tells us in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Sharing our faith by our testimonies is a bold action glorifying God and edifying and bridging people to God. We serve a living God. A real God. An awesome God. If I were to write my carboard testimony, it would be this: "I am a drunkard. I am a liar. A sinner recidivist! But by God's Grace, I am a Holy Spirit- led man." What's yours?

Billy Graham: My Moment of Decision

"Read Billy Graham's testimony, in his own words, of the moment that he decided to give his life to Jesus Christ." My Moment of Decision I'll never forget my first year in high school. Babe Ruth, the great "king of swat ," came to my hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, to play an exhibition game. All of us were on the front seats shouting and yelling at the top of our lungs. My father, who had taken us to the game, arranged for me to shake hands with the great Babe. I will never forget the thrill of shaking hands with the fellow who was the idol of all our young hearts. I didn't wash my hand for about three days. The next day at school, I was the envy of all my friends. During my last years in high school, my keenest ambition was to be a professional baseball player. I dreamed of playing in Wrigley Field in Chicago and Yankee Stadium in New York. I "ate up" the sports pages. When I was sixteen, after finishing a game, I was invit...

Farewell Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty

"We are sad to lose the presence of our pastor, shepherd, father and brother. We are thankful, however, for his life, love and influence on the individuals and ministries he inspired for the last 30 years." (statement of church leaders of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma) I have not met Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty in person but he was such an inspiration and "a man of influence" to me as I continue my journey with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He and his wife Sharon host a TV program "Victory in Jesus" aired at Daystar Television. I used to tune in to their program almost everyday as I was enjoying my cup of coffee and preparing myself to go to work. He preached the Word of God with zeal. He was very passionate, honest, and practical. His preachings focused mostly in the areas faith, health and prosperity. It was an awesome experience to witness their ministry. He has touched the lives of a lot of people in Tulsa and  in various countries ...

A Remarkable Story of God's Grace

It says in James 1:2 - "Consider it pure joy, my Brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds." .... To count our hurt, pain and struggle as nothing but pure joy? As my parents were Christians, and my Dad even a Pastor of our ch urch, they knew that verse very well. However, on the morning of the 4th of December 1982 in Melbourne (Australia), the last two words on the minds of my parents was "Praise God!". Their firstborn son had been born without limbs! There were no warnings or time to prepare themselves for it. The doctors were shocked and had no answers at all! The whole church mourned over my birth and my parents were absolutely devastated. "If God is a God of Love, then why would He let something this happen? especially to dedicated Christians" My Dad thought I wouldn't survive for very long, but tests proved that I was a healthy baby boy just with a few limbs missing. Understandably, my parents had strong concern and evident fears...
