The Virtuous Woman - Proverbs 31:10-31

10 Who can find a virtuous wife?       For her worth is far above rubies.        11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;       So he will have no lack of gain.        12 She does him good and not evil       All the days of her life.        13 She seeks wool and flax,       And willingly works with her hands.        14 She is like the merchant ships,       She brings her food from afar.

Songs of Solomon: A Book of Love, Romance, and Relationship

The world celebrates Valentines Day today! When I think of a better place to obtain poems, phrases, or quotes that expresses love relationship between a husband and wife, the lyrics of  The Song of Solomon in the Bible is one of best places to read. The Songs of Solomon highlights the virtues of love between a husband and his wife and  is a concrete demonstration of  marriage in accordance with God’s design. A man and woman are to spend life together within the biblical meaning of marriage, that is loving each other physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Love is not Forced. It comes Naturally. Do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases. (Songs of Solomon 2:7)

What Does Faith Actually Do?

I subscribe to Colin Smith 's weekly Lifekeys devotionals.  I just thought of sharing this one because I believe that we all need to sharpen our thoughts on the subject of Faith. One of favourite verses is Hebrews 11:6 that says "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." This verse has really provided me a clear understanding that we can't take away Faith when we talk about our relationship with God. Colin Smith, in this article explains Faith. "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law." - Romans 3:28 Evangelicals have always stressed the wonderful truth that we are justified by faith. We have rightly placed great emphasis on justification by faith and not by works. But we have not always had a good grasp on what faith actually is. Hebrews 11 gives us a long list of the heroes of faith, men and

Jesus Is The Way

I'm featuring a well written devotional by Bob Gass. It's a very timely message and conveys a short but clear message. Jesus is The Way. When I was still tied up with religion, John 14:6 seems to be unrecognizable and doesn't do much impact on me. Not until I discover the message of the cross and what Christianity has to offer that this verse deeply impacted me and turn my life around. You see, man-made religion put people to captivity of various rules, traditions, and rituals to follow. These religions impressed upon people about a God that is far and beyond reach. Religion keeps looking and searching for God! It's entirely the reverse of Christianity where God is looking for His lost sons and daughters. Christianity  is about personal relationship to an all knowing, all powerful, and everliving, and loving God. Christianity kindles the passion to discover our Creator and a life that is focussed to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Every word of the Bible comes alive

Vanity of Vanities

For what would it profit us to know the whole Bible by heart and the principles of all the philosophers if we live without grace and the love of God? Vanity of vanities and all is vanity, except to love God and serve Him alone. This is the greatest wisdom -- to seek the kingdom of heaven through contempt of the world. IT IS VANITY... It is vanity, therefore, to seek and trust in riches that perish. It is vanity also to court honor and to be puffed up with pride. It is vanity to follow the lusts of the body  and to desire things for which severe punishment later must come. It is vanity to wish for long life and to care little about a well-spent life. It is vanity to be concerned with the present only and not to make provision for things to come. It is vanity to love what passes quickly and not to look ahead where eternal joy abides. Choose Today Whom You Will Serve

One of my favourite characters in the Bible is Joshua. I admire how he challenged the Israelites to choose whom they will serve. Joshua made a definite stand! A powerful one. Against the odds. He must have been rediculed, persecuted, and abandoned. His decision was unpopular to many people who chose to worship their idols, their wealth, their jobs, and their possessions. Joshua was a military leader, a prophet, a judge. He was a man of influence. A spy. A war strategist famous for breaking down the walls of Jericho. Joshua challenges us. No doubt about it. How can't you not be motivated by his famous words? Be strong and courageous! Be strong and very courageous! Fear the LORD! Now he asks us: Whom will you serve? Who will be your master? Who will be your King? You have to choose. This is my stand. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD! (Joshua 24:15) If you take that stand as I am, this is Joshua's instructions. “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from you

Nobel winner Slams Bible as 'handbook of bad morals'

This is appalling. Calling God's word, the Bible, a "handbook of bad morals"? How  could Saramango say that? Did he read the "right" Bible? What's his motive? Of course, he is entitled to his opinion. All I can say is this: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7)                           ---o00o--- LISBON (AFP) - A row broke out in Portugal on Monday after a Nobel Prize-winning author denounced the Bible as a "handbook of bad morals". Speaking at the launch of his new book "Cain", Jose Saramago, who won the 1998 Nobel Prize for Literature, said society would probably be better off without the Bible. Roman Catholic Church leaders accused the 86-year-old of a publicity stunt. The book is an ironic retelling of the Biblical story of Cain, Adam and Eve's son who killed his younger brother Abel."
